Multicriterial Approach for Traditional Shop Houses Façade Condition Assessment
The facade of old shophouses’ are the vital element on the timeline to preserve and conserve the value it carries in the history. Facades are the most important aspect of an early shop house because they can influence the exterior apperance and condition of the buildings considerably. The major problem we faced was the lack of equipment to measure the condition of the facade specificly to classify the current condition. Mainly, the façade elements of the shop house are cornice, upper level and lower level. Each element define building’s unique architectural aesthetics. To ensure the facade’s lifespan is always in good condition, timely performance assessment should be performed. Therefore, this paper to analyzed the performance assessment requirement of façade elements to establish a systematic method for classifying façade condition. An protocol interview with 20 panel of experts has been able to determine the weightage of main and sub elements of facade. The data being analyzed using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).
