Energy and Cost Analysis of Building Envelope for the Warm and Humid Climatic Regions of India
Energy consumption by buildings and their capacity for saving energy are the most widely discussed topics worldwide in the context of a deteriorating energy crisis and global warming. Energy consumption can be decreased by adding or improving thermal insulation to building components. Building envelope optimization is extremely important for energy savings. This study focused on the optimum building envelope from the viewpoint of value engineering, considering both the energy saving and life cycle cost. The study considered a total of six walling and two roofing envelopes. The study examined 12 building envelope assemblies while considering various walling and roofing envelopes. The findings indicate that insulating building envelopes will contribute to reducing energy use. The study's findings support the use of value engineering to obtain the appropriate building envelope.
