Application Research on Pipe Pile Foundation of Highway Bridge in Dongting Lake Region
To reduce occupancy of cultivated land, standard span bridges are widely used in Highways in Dongting Lake regions instead of subgrade. At the same time, extreme environmental protection requirements are put forward for construction of bridges in these regions. Based on engineering practice of Wushi-Yiyang Highway, the design scheme of prestressed high-strength concrete (PHC) pipe piles for bridges is put forward. And then, the feasibility of the bridge pipe piles was verified based on the 6 PHC pipe piles construction process and the vertical bearing capacity test of the pile foundation. Finally, the PHC pipe pile type selection, foundation layout, size of the caps and the setting of tie beams of PHC pipe piles as well as a complete set of related construction processes were introduced. The research results aim to provide a significant reference for PHC pipe pile foundation of highway bridges in Dongting Lake regions and other similar geological conditions.
