Make of/Sign La Calzada de Béjar Graphic Narration of a Village
It presents a survey and graphic representation of La Calzada de Béjar, an old rural village located in the Castilla y León region. The contribution highlights the relationship between the representation of a place through drawing in a combination of different detection experiences with digital (laser scanner, photogrammetry and drone) and analogical techniques (direct survey on a field notebook). It reflects above all on the practice of freehand drawing, as an act of real representation as a moment of knowledge and narration of a place through the body, eye, mind, hand and sheet of paper. The aim is to find new interpretative keys from which a distillate of values, considerations, reflections and regeneration projects can emerge. In addition, an experimental and strategic program for the cultural regeneration of the architectural and landscape heritage of this geographical area of the Iberian Peninsula is presented, taking an ancient architectural artefact, the Fortino, as a “key to interpretation” in order to extend the intervention to a territorial scale. The proposal of the “Proyecto Fortín” aims to transform a ruin into a “device of the eye” on the territory and the village of La Calzada de Béjar. Using supports and technologies, digital and analogical, for the interpretation and reading of reality between past, present and future.
