A Study for the Estimation of TBM Design Parameters by Statistical Analysis
The purpose of this study is to estimate the installed capacity of TBM design parameters by the statistical analysis. To build the TBM database, about 700 data with the TBM diameter of more than 6m were collected from the various TBM tunnelling projects around the world. Based on the simple regression analysis of TBM database, the correlation equations between the TBM diameter and three design parameters including installed thrust, cutterhead torque, and cutterhead driving power were derived depending on the TBM type and the geological conditions. From the study, it is concluded that it is possible to estimate the installed capacity of several TBM design parameters by TBM diameter with the use of simple regression analysis. Furthermore, some obtained correlation equations associated with the design parameter of EPB TBM were verified by the comparison of the previous study.
