Urban agriculture in Hanoi has outstanding features in 3 areas: inner city, urban edge, and suburban. The agricultural areas in the inner city of Hanoi are narrow, mainly small gardens to meet the needs of entertainment and relaxation; The peri-urban area has a larger and more diverse agricultural space, but it is also a place where many changes in land use due to the strong urbanization process, so the landscape is also difficult to define. The large suburban area of Hanoi is the place that provides most of the meat, milk, fresh vegetables, and fruits for the city. The paper introduces several survey and analysis results on the elements of Hanoi’s agricultural space and categorizes it as a necessary basis for research on urban planning and landscape design for the city.
