Calibrating the K&C Material Model for Fiber Reinforced Concrete Structures
This paper presents a calibration of a material model implemented in LS-DYNA for simulating the fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) structures under dynamic loading. Karogozian & Case Concrete (K&C) material model, which is also known as MAT072r3 model, is employed for this purpose. Owing to the fact that K&C model was initially developed for conventional concrete, without any calibration it may not be appropriate for other concrete such as FRC. Using the axial and tri-axial tests on FRC specimens given in the literature, the calibrated parameters are determined. Numerical analyses of FRC components under static and dynamic loading are then carried out to illustrate the performance of the calibrated model on describing the structural behavior of FRC structures under different loading conditions. Comparisons between FEA results and test data show that the calibrated model is capable of modelling of FRC structures under both static and high-rate effect like blast and impact loading.
