Abstract Rainwater harvesting in buildings involves various items and works of multidisciplinary technology and materials. Therefore, for professionals and other practitioners engaged in rainwater harvesting in buildings, knowledge about various items of different technologies is essential for their effective and efficient utilization. It may not be possible to acquire in-depth knowledge of all of the types of elements used; however, some basic concepts are essential.
