Technical Issues of Using BIM: East Indian Architects’ Perspective
Advancement in the ICT tools has promoted BIM in the design, construction, and operation industry to use resources in an effective and efficient manner. BIM tasks can be customized as per the specific project need, and the outcome is faster and detailed. However, in spite of the availability of advanced features, BIM adoption is slow in Eastern India and is limited to 3D visualization. This study explores the technical reason for this lacuna by interviewing practicing and student architects. It was found that being updates of technical advancement, devoting time for skill upgradation and most importantly exposure to programming logic in early academic years pave the path for exploring BIM to its full potential and use it as a common platform for all project-related tasks. The finding helps in addressing technical issues of using BIM tools for successful project-delivery.
