Structural Audit of Mutha River Bridge Using Institutionally Developed Displacement Sensors
This study is conducted to perform structural audit of Mutha river bridge which is situated on the Mutha river on Mumbai–Bangalore National Highway near Warje, Pune. In this study, few audit methods are used together which can give us an overview about the bridge condition. Firstly, visual inspection of the bridge structure is done to find the visible flaws in the members where more attention is required. Traditional techniques like Rebound Hammer test and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity test are considered for the study. There are very few methods available to measure deck displacement in the bridge structure. So, in this study to find out the displacement in the deck of the bridge structure an Institutionally developed displacement sensors equipment is used. After visual analysis, it was decided to conduct the displacement test on all the bridge decks. As during visual inspection all decks beams were observed to be in some kind of damage. For real time loading, an 18.5 ton two-axel truck was passed through the bridge and the displacement readings were taken at the same time. Then compare the obtained displacement reading with the standard given in AASTHO-LFRD. After conducting the structural audit and analyzing the results, the bridge overall condition was determined and the key parts that needed repairs were mentioned.
