Fatigue Properties of Asphalt Mixtures Using Granite Aggregates
To promote the application of acidic aggregates in pavement construction, the fatigue properties of asphalt (HMA) mixture using acidic granite aggregates were analyzed in this investigation. The asphalt and granite adhesion was improved using cement and anti-stripping agent. The splitting fatigue test was carried out to analyze the fatigue resistance of asphalt mixture under different treatment measures. The results show that adding cement can increase the fatigue cycles of asphalt mixture by more than 10% compared with the case of no measures, adding anti-stripping agent can improve about 20%, and adding cement and anti-stripping agent can improve more than 50%. Based on different stress levels, the fatigue equations of asphalt mixtures using acidic aggregates under different treatment measures are established, which shows good correlations with the test data. The research results have important reference values for the engineering application of granite and other acidic aggregates.
