Experimental Investigation of Bond-Dependent Coefficient of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Bars
Abstract In recent years, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars have become an alternative to steel reinforcement in concrete structures. Due to the relatively low modulus of elasticity and the different surface treatment, the problems of bond between the GFRP bars and the concrete should be carefully considered. This paper focus on the experimental evaluation of the bond–dependent coefficient (kb) of GFRP bars according to the ACI 440.1R-06. This coefficient takes into account the degree of bond between the GFRP bar and the surrounding concrete and was used in calculating of serviceability limited state of concrete structures.
