Nondestructive Evaluation for Air Permeability and Water Absorption of Cover Concrete Affected by Rainfall
Rainfall is an environmental factor that can affect the properties, including air permeability and water absorption of concrete. In this study, the influence of rainfall on the air permeability and water absorption was investigated utilizing two nondestructive methods, namely, Torrent air permeability test and the water intentional spraying test (WIST). The tests were conducted on two rectangular specimens (60 × 60 × 90 cm) produced using blast furnace slag cement, water-to-binder ratio of 0.53, different exposed conditions (with and without rainfall). The results indicated that the air permeability and water absorption of the specimen exposed outdoor (with rainfall) were much lower than those of indoor (without rainfall).
