The Coherent State in the Heavy Fermion CeCu6
Coherence is found to have a dramatic effect on the Hall constant in heavy fermion systems. A high temperature incoherent scattering region, a transition regime, and a low temperature coherent regime are clearly distinguished. The coherent behavior occurs at temperatures an order of magnitude smaller than the Fermi temperature which characterizes the low temperature electronic specific heat. This fact together with the abruptness with which coherence effects disappear raises the possibility that a new temperature scale is required to characterize coherence in these systems.
