Experience in induced explosive caving and loosening of soils
Conclusions 1. Experience has shown that controlled explosive caving of slopes in borrow pits with the use of hydromechanization is sufficiently reliable, simple, and the most economic method of fracturing and loosening soils of the IV category and higher. 2. In the case of compact soils at a depth of more than 8–10 m, which is characteristic for the pits of the Kopet-Dag reservoir, blasting methods for caving and loosening are essentially the only way to increase substantially the operating effectiveness of suction dredgers.
