Maximizing Learning Potential: Embracing the Power of Digital Twins in Architectural and Construction Education of the Twenty-first Century
This chapter explores the impact of implementing potential emerging technologies such as Digital Twin (DT) in academia in the twenty-first century. DT, better known as virtual replicas of physical structures or systems, provide students with immersive learning experiences and real-time simulations. By integrating these platforms, students can explore designs and asset performance and enhance problem-solving skills by further leveraging the knowledge of dealing with real projects, which has been the main concern when not attaining an adequate understanding. The chapter discusses the integration and application of DT in simulating real-world scenarios and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among students. It also addresses challenges such as data integration and ethical considerations for using DT in an educational environment. By embracing a conscious approach to DT, educators can potentially transform the manner of teaching by providing students with a deeper understanding of complex processes to develop innovative solutions for current challenges.
