Application and Meaning of the tij Concept
Simple and unified method to describe stress-strain behavior in general three-dimensional stress condition, which has been called the tij concept, was presented [1]. Since this concept was found out from idea that the frictional law essentially governs soil behavior, its meaning is very clear. Using this concept, any kinds of one-dimensional models and/or three-dimensional models formulated by using (p and q) can be easily extended to general three-dimensional models. Methods for formulating the constitutive model using tij and the meanings of the tij concept are presented.
