Interference Effects on Wind Loads on T-Plan Shaped Tall Buildings
The recent progress in constructing high-rise buildings within urban areas, driven by site restrictions for construction, has led to the emergence of irregular floor plans for such structures. As a result, wind pressure on irregularly shaped tall buildings is taken into account. The current paper focuses on the wind behaviour around a T-shaped plan tall building and interference cases (side-by-side configuration). The investigation employs Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) along with a practical k-epsilon turbulence model for numerical analysis. The study investigates the variation of mean wind pressure coefficients on all faces of the main building, as well as the drag and lift coefficients and moment coefficients, within the wind environment surrounding the structure. These results are compared when the test building is placed at distances of 0 m, 50 m, and 100 m respectively from the principal building. The wind incidence angles of 0°, 45°, 90°, 135°, and 180° were analyzed, and the resulting pressure distribution on different building surfaces was observed.
