Resources and Agriculture–Job Creation Enablers in African Smart Villages
Economic prosperity in a smart village requires job creation enablers, which in an African context would include among others, mining, agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism and indigenous arts and culture. This chapter covers two of the most prevalent job creation enablers, mining and agriculture. The undeniable potential of Africa to benefit from the post-Industrial Revolution developments and achieve economic prosperity through job creation is described. Two success stories from Botswana and Mauritius in mining and agriculture are presented as case studies.
