Estimating Stream Depletion due to a Nearby Well Pumping
Abstract New expressions have been derived for stream depletion created by pumping a nearby hydraulically connected well. The solution assumes complete stream-bed penetration of the isotropic and homogeneous aquifer. Proposed expressions, which are functions of just one parameter, have been derived employing genetic algorithm on generated data. When compared, these expressions give comparable results obtained by analytical solutions of Theis (Trans Am Geophys Union 22:734–738, 1941) Glover and Balmer (Trans Am Geophys Union 35:468–470, 1954), and Hantush (J Geophys Res 70:2829–2838, 1965).
