Bridge Operation and Maintenance Costs
Abstract Within the framework of the Swedish Commission on Maintenance and Costs (DKU), an autonomous alliance between six city authorities, a comparison study with regard to maintenance costs has been carried out by the bridge committee of the commission. The comparison study was concerned with operation and maintenance costs, and their relation to the following parameters: amount of de-icing salts spread out. climatic and geographical conditions, age and size of bridge stock, and traffic intensity. An explicit analytical function was found which estimates the annual operation and maintenance costs probably needed with respect to the parameters mentioned above.
