Early-age Cracking Control on Concrete with Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
Ground granulated blast furnace slag has been widely used in high performance concrete as a mineral admixture. The addition of ground granulated blast furnace slag can effectively improve the workability, long-term strength, and durability of concrete. In this chapter, early-age cracking control of high performance concrete reinforced with ground granulated blast furnace slag was investigated. The results showed that the free shrinkage, residual stress, stress rate, relaxed stress decreased with the increasing ground granulated blast furnace slag replacement. The addition of ground granulated blast furnace slag decreased the cracking stress, temperature drop, cracking resistance of early-age concrete. The autogenous shrinkage of high performance concrete increased with the increasing ground granulated blast furnace slag replacement.
