An Approach for Steering Wheel Angle Evaluation Without Using a True Power-on Steering Angle Sensor in Electric Power Steering Systems
Advanced electric power steering systems use BLDC motors with rotor angle sensor for commutation. The same sensor can be used also for steering wheel angle determination. Such a solution will save costs from using a relatively expensive true power-on steering wheel angle sensor.
