Ten-year experience with operation of the votkinsk hydroelectric plant
Conclusions 1. The ten-year experience with operation of the Votkinsk hydroelectric plant reveals reliable operation of the hydraulic structures and the equipment; the fully integrated automation of the energy production and the introduction of new techniques make this plant an outstanding enterprise. 2. The location of the trashracks in the extended piers of the powerhouse, with special grooves constructed in the piers, is an economical and highly effective solution of the problem of reducing the head losses in the trashracks for plants built on timber-rafting rivers. 3. The implemented measures, in particular those concerned with improvement of the thrust bearing operations, ensured reliable operation of the hydraulic units. Recently, the intermaintenance period of the units has been increased from four to five years; automation and mechanization of the production processes has permitted reducing the number of plant operators. 4. At the Votkinsk plant, successful use is being made of a control computing machine, which leads to an increase in the electric energy output through optimization of the operating regimen of the equipment and increases the reliability of the plant operation.
