Future Research Work
Based on earlier studies, new research work must be developed in the next few years. For example, some easy modifications on HVAC systems must be considered, such as changing the set-point temperature during the winter season in office buildings with permeable coverings. Hence, this chapter includes different sections in accordance with the different indoor environments. This chapter deals with energy consumption, thermal comfort and preservation of materials, extreme indoor environments related to extreme temperature or relative humidity and health problems. Future research must be oriented to investigate the real effect of building materials on IAQ, thermal comfort and energy saving. Further research should also concentrate on the improvement or replacement of HVAC systems with passive methods, even if partially.
