Effective Structure for Strengthening the Road Embankments on Unstable Mountain Slopes
The paper deals with the issues of effective protection against rock landslides in the cold regions of the Russian Far East. On the mountainside at the base of the road embankment, there is a possibility of sprawling blocks of fractured rocks. The authors describe the original structure for strengthening the foundations of road embankments on unstable mountain slopes. The design of the structure redistributes the vertical loads from the embankment. As a result, the soil mass is compacted compensating for the landslide pressure of the soil. The paper presents the results of design calculations of the structure elements. A new spatial scheme of the soil mass under the embankment increases the reliability of the road structure.
