Abstract The two-dimensional density of atoms in the first Fe-layer of a Fe(110)/W(110)-interface was determined by Moessbauer spectroscopy, using their magnetic hyperfine field, which differs from that of the following material. It turns out that the first Femonolayer in the interface is pseudomorphic with W.
