Effectiveness of Lighting Sysytems for Patient Rooms and Corridors
Results are reported on a trial study conducted to determine the working status of luminaires in the patient wards of a representative hospital located in Ankara, Turkey. The sampling plan used took in four floors from an eleven-storey ward building having 3 semi-detached blocks with each floor allocated to a specific clinical department, and 36 patient rooms of varying accommodation from the total of 297 on the eleven floors; also in the sample were two types of access corridor from each of the four floors. Findings showed that the working status was independent of floors, but not of five other variables considered. Further investigations were considered necessary for broader generalisations and to determine underlying causes.
