Keyless Data Acquisition in Construction
This paper examines keyless data acquisition and its relationship to an information system for the construction industry. Keyless data acquisition methodologies are techniques used to input data into a computer system through means other than the computer keyboard. This paper discusses these keyless data acquisition methodologies which have gained popularity and have assisted in upgrading overall productivity in many industries other than the construction industry. While these technologies have been adopted in a number of industry. with successful results, the construction industry is yet to fully exploit them. This paper explores a range of issues, applications, and potential benefits.
The development of efficient and effective computerized information systems for the construction industry is greatly needed to upgrade overall productivity. Such development requires an investigation of the various components that make up the system. This paper looks at one of these components, namely keyless data acquisition, and its related issues for the construction industry.
