‘Race’, public policy and planning in Britain
This paper examines the nature of post‐1945 British planning from the perspective of an increasingly multi‐ethnic and racialized society. It argues that while planning did not have the salience of immigration policy or employment policy within the politics of ‘race’, its ideology and policy still had implications for the lives of black and ethnic minority Britons. The significance of these implications is evaluated, with a particular focus on the period from the late 1970s.
