Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
The first education in design at the doctoral level (DED) was launched in 1990 in the USA. The UK established DED courses in 1992, whereas in mainland China courses were launched around 2000. This means DED in mainland China is at an initial stage. Based on a review of existing literature, this study aims to compare 90 DED projects worldwide to gain a holistic understanding of the status quo of DED for China. After that, the researcher plans to interview doctoral students, supervisors, and administrators to identify the challenges facing mainland Chinese DED. To bridge the gap, the study is going to propose an improved DED system in mainland China. The main objective is to facilitate the identification of mainland Chinese DED, as it may benefit the development of DED from the Ministry of Education’s position, as well as the administrators of individual courses.
