Effect of Hoop Reinforcement Yielding on the Cyclic Behavior of Beam-column Joint
In removal and replacement technique, yielded hoops from the damaged joint core are not removed for practical difficulties, and it remains inside the joint core after rehabilitation. An attempt has been made in the present article to study the effect of yielding of hoops on cyclic performance of seismically detailed beam-column joint. It was observed that in case of specimens with pre-yielded hoops peak load, ductility and energy dissipation reduced by 12–23%, 31–49% and 24–55%, respectively, compared to control specimen. Stiffness degradation and damage index were higher in specimens with pre-yielded joint hoops.
