How passive solar systems perform
Three representative types of passive solar heating arrangements were evaluated by mathematical simulation techniques in a test series in Japan, based on weather data from Sapporo. The results achieved, notably the effect of thermal storage capacity on performance, are discussed here by a research engineer who is now working with Dr Karl Gertis at the University of Essen's Institute of Building Physics, Western Germany.
