LPS building: The Hungarian experience
The experience with large-panel system building in Hungary is reviewed at a time when decisions must be taken about the future of the LPS concept and the buildings that were thereby created. The author describes the models and methods used for structural analysis and discusses the role of different types of abnormal loads in structural behaviour. The paper results from a period spent by Dr Zalka at the UK Building Research Establishment, which has long had links with the Ybl Miklos Polytechnic of Budapest, of which Dr Zalka is now a director.
