Towards sustainable rural housing development in Ghana
Rural housing is generally noted to be poor and its effect on ill-health and well-being is increasingly becoming evident, argues Mr Owusu-Adade of the Building and Road Research Institute in Kumasi, Ghana. Essential factors necessary in any rural housing proposal should be: the demand for housing based on the ability to pay; the political will to assist the rural population to escape from poverty; and the social considerations that influence housing needs.
