The results are presented of measurements of walls convergences obtained during the driving of the Tartaiguille tunnel when crossing through the Aptian marls. This analysis is interesting since it brings together the following conditions over close to 300 meters of tunnel: a very homogeneous geology, a support system composed only of shotcrete and radial bolts, with measurements of convergences over sixteen measurement sections. After a description of the structure, we propose to quantitatively assess the function of the bolts in the reduction of convergences while reckoning with all the parameters which might influence that analysis. In this way, we demonstrate the importance of a few extra bolts to the structure's stability. It will then possible to compare this assessment with the assessment that we obtain during a numerical modelling of the driving of the tunnel as it is habitually performed by consulting engineers.
