Design Concept and Engineering Techniques of Taiwan Strait Crossing
The Taiwan Strait Crossing will have invaluable influence on many aspects including communication, economics, prosperity, and social developments of both sides and on the national unity of China. It includes bridge and undersea tunnel with total length of about 150 to 250 km depending on the selection of closing lines. The descriptions of issues regarding the design concept, construction techniques, availability of materials, and skilled laborers, equipment availability, and transportation networks are focused in this article. An alternative design concept with composition of bridge and submerged casing crossing is also offered for further discussion.
