The authors present a simulation modelling study for the design of an airport terminal building, developed for the purpose of designing the new Zagreb airport terminal building. The simulation model describes all of the main characteristics as well as the logic behind the terminal building's operation and enables the determination of the flight timetable, usage of space, queueing length and times for all types of counters. Analysis of the simulation experiments enables both a balance between the airport terminal building equipment and space for adequate passenger and baggage service, and the avoidance of timetable delays with minimum investment.
