The effects of remoteness and size on regional real wage determination

The first two sections of the paper use conventional economic theory to explore the hypothesis that market accessibility and regional size conditioned by market structure can predict the appearance of a real wage differential between a metropolitan and a hinterland manufacturing region. Free-market elimination of the differential is discussed in section 3. from the standpoints of natural resource endowments and accelerated investment expenditure in the hinterland economy. Throughout, a modified version of the Heckscher-Ohlin approach (as described in the introduction) serves as the basis of the analysis.
