Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
This article deals with the major policies which have affected British cities in recent years. After outlining the political and economic background of policy formulation the article then discusses two important aspects of policy implementation: the structure of local authorities and the character of the planning profession. Four of the most important policies are then examined: the switch in housing policy from redevelopment to improvement, the operation of conservation measures, the efficacy of land use controls, and the changing nature of the inner-city program. The final section questions the validity of an urban policy.
