Three-dimensional steady-state ground heat transfer for multi-zone buildings
A closed-form analytical solution is presented for steady-state ground heat transfer from buildings with multiple rectangular floors at different temperatures. The heat transfer results obtained using the analytical solution were found to be in close agreement with those obtained using a commercial numerical simulation software package for a two-zone building. For the case study, the ground heat transfer calculation using the analytical solution is several orders faster than the numerical simulation method. The analytical solution provides a fast and accurate calculation method for the steady-state ground heat transfer components for multi-zone buildings.
