When Jeremy Melvin wrote a short piece on Colin Rowe's selection as the 1995 RIBA Gold Medallist, Rowe's reaction was not anticipated. The Journal asked Melvin to respond to Rowe's Address, not only because his name features in it but also because the value of history is a subject of concern.
