Competitive tendering for refurbishment work
The investigation was undertaken as part of a larger study to evaluate a large body of UK contractors' claim of higher risk exposure in refurbishment work. The bidding set or number of bidders in a project; the bid spread or 'money left on the table' by the lowest bidder and, the success rate and competitive mix in tendering were used to gauge the competition in tendering. On balance, it may be concluded that the probability of winning a competitive tender for refurbishment work is higher than in new build work.
