EARTH COVERED: LOW, LIFE-CYCLE-COST HOUSING
The terms used to describe earth-contact structures are defined, and the advantages and disadvantages listed. Comparisons are made between the primary and secondary energy content of average brick and earth-covered dwellings; the reduced life-cycle costs of earth-covered homes are discussed. A New South Wales (N.S.W.) earth-covered residential Case Study is presented and post-occupation performance results considered.
