Indoor Physical Environment in Rural India
A study on rural houses in the district of Maharashtra (India) reveals that about 85% of people have fenestration areas of less than 80%, with poor daylighting indoors. In spite of large variations in floor area 80.0.% of people were somehow managing with a floor area of 8.0 m2 to 12.0 m2. Indoor thermal evaluation was made by an established subjective thermal index, the Tropical Summer Index (TSI). About 70% of occupants were satisfied with a TSI value of less than 30 degrees Celsius.
