Experimental Architecture for Homeless Self-Housing
This paper examines the makeshift construction of geodesic domes by the Tel Aviv homeless, explicitly referencing Buckminster Fuller's 1960s avant-garde architecture and its uses for proposing an alternative society. Fascinated by the construction of geodesic shelters as an inventive architecture that enables the homeless to claim the heart of the city, this exploration involves the idea that high architecture transforms the homeless from seemingly inept bodies to urban citizens, proposing architecture as the “matter that matters” in our capacity to address the global housing crisis.
