Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
CIB Commission W23 has produced 'International Recommendations for the design of masonry structures', published in 1980 as part of the JCSS set of Material Codes. The recommendations deal only with unreinforced brick or blockwork but progress is now well advanced in extending the advice to reinforced masonry (see companion article in this issue). Here, the author, one of the co-reporters on this task, explains the background to the 1980 Recommendations, their purpose and their scope, which is to inform national Codes and aid Code drafters. The practical application of the recommendations is then illustrated by worked examples for an internal wall and for an external cavity wall. The author is a senior partner in the firm of Jenkins and Potter, consulting engineers, of London, UK. La Commission du CIB W23 a sorti les « Recommandations internationales pour le calcul des structures en maconnerie » publiees en 1980 dans les Reglements JCSS sur les materiaux. Ces recommandations ne portent que sur les maconneries non armees en briques ou en blocs mais le travail pour etendre ces conseils a la maconnerie armee est maintenant bien avance (cf. l'article suivant). Ici M. Haseltine, l'un des co-rapporteurs de cette etude, expose l'historique de ces Recommandations, leur but et leur domaine d'emploi qui est de documenter les Reglements nationaux et d'aider leurs redacteurs. L'application pratique de ces recommandations est illustree par des exemples resolus relatifs a un mur interieur et a un mur creux exterieur.
