RAINFALL—RUNOFF MODELLING—A CASE STUDY
In planning and development of a water resources project, a long and continuous record of hydrologic data is a prime necessity. In this paper, empirical relations between seasonal rainfall and runoff for the Bahuda river basin are proposed and the multiple correlation and regression analysis is carried out to forecast the maximum daily rainfall during monsoon season using antecedent meteorological indices. An attempt is also made to verify the applicability of Thomas—Fiering model for the basin for the generation of synthetic sequences of runoff. The study discloses that for the generation of synthetic sequences of runoff, the Thomas- Fiering model may be used in the design of water resources system of the Bahuda river basin.
