L.C. Fothergill together with T. Carman of the UK's Building Research Establishment, BRE, and the CSTB in France co-operated in a research programme conducting similar experiments, in which subjects were played tape recordings of the noise from impacts on various type of floor. This paper describes the BRE experiments and discusses the joint conclusions of the two research organisations.
