Mix Design of Rice Husk Ash Concrete
Mix design procedures for fly ash concrete are not suitable for rice husk ash (RHA) concrete. However, two design parameters are here identified which relate the properties of RHA cement to those of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), both factors being obtainable by routine laboratory tests. With these values, it is shown from experience that the mix design of RHA concrete can be effected through any published procedure for OPC concrete. Dr Loo, formerly with the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, is now Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Mr Weragama is Deputy Chief Engineer of the Sri Lanka Government Railways.
